Camavinga Injured: What’s the Diagnosis and How Long Will He Be Out?
The French midfielder has suffered another muscle injury and will miss the upcoming matches for Real Madrid.
French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid will be out of action for approximately three weeks due to a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg, according to club sources reported by EFE.
The club confirmed Camavinga’s injury on its website following his 51-minute appearance in the Copa del Rey match against Celta Vigo. Observers noted a club physiotherapist attending to the affected area during the break before extra time, signaling potential discomfort.
This is the same type of injury Camavinga suffered on November 27 against Liverpool at Anfield, which sidelined him for four matches. On that occasion, he returned after 17 days, featuring as a substitute against Rayo Vallecano before starting in the Intercontinental Cup final, where Real Madrid defeated Mexican side Pachuca 3-0.
This time, the anticipated recovery timeline is three weeks. Real Madrid is targeting Camavinga’s return for the La Liga derby against Atlético Madrid during the second weekend of February. Should his recovery progress faster—similar to his previous injury—he might be available for the Copa del Rey quarterfinals, scheduled from February 4–6.
What matches will Camavinga miss?
During his absence, Camavinga is expected to miss La Liga matches against UD Las Palmas, Real Valladolid, and Espanyol, as well as the final two group-stage games of the Champions League against Salzburg and Brest.
This marks the third setback of the season for the 21-year-old midfielder. Earlier in the campaign, Camavinga endured a medial collateral ligament sprain in his left knee, sidelining him for 10 matches
