Fear at Real Madrid over Mbappé’s injury: Will He Be Able To Play the Copa del Rey Final Against Barcelona?
‘COPE’ reported that Kylian Mbappé is not suffering from a serious ankle injury… and will do everything possible to be available for the Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona
The aftermath of Real Madrid’s elimination in the Champions League quarterfinals against Arsenal has shifted the spotlight to Kylian Mbappé, who left the match injured last Wednesday showing clear signs of pain. Over the past few hours, he has undergone various tests to determine the extent of the injury… raising doubts about whether he’ll be able to play in the Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona.

Mbappé would be cutting it close for the Copa del Rey final
As of now, Real Madrid has yet to release an official medical report detailing the injury suffered by Kylian Mbappé, who twisted his ankle after an accidental clash with Declan Rice midway through the second half of the second leg against Arsenal. Medical staff quickly rushed onto the pitch to treat the French forward. Although he managed to walk off the field on his own, he felt unfit to continue playing.
The report from Real Madrid’s communications department shouldn’t take much longer. However, ‘COPE’ has already reported that it’s not a serious injury and is merely a mild ankle sprain. An injury that, in most cases, would sideline any player for about two weeks.
Real Madrid won’t take any risks with Mbappé
If that recovery timeline holds, Mbappé’s availability for the Copa del Rey final that Real Madrid will play against Barcelona is in serious doubt. For that reason, Real Madrid’s medical staff has started working around the clock to ensure that Mbappé can not only be available for the match… but also be in the starting lineup chosen by Carlo Ancelotti.
In any case, Mbappé was already ruled out of this weekend’s match against Athletic Club after being sent off against Alavés last weekend. However, even if he hasn’t been officially ruled out, Real Madrid doesn’t want to take any chances, and he’s also unlikely to feature against Getafe. Ancelotti wants him fully fit for the final against Barcelona, a team he already scored against in the Supercopa… although it wasn’t enough to win the title.
