Lamine Yamal Taunts Real Madrid With a Bold Message Before Copa del Rey Final Showdown
Lamine Yamal is currently one of FC Barcelona’s most important players—and for good reason. The young sensation has amazed the world with his talent, earning recognition as one of the best in the game. Beyond his on-field brilliance, he has also won the hearts of the Blaugrana faithful.
As with any club icon, Lamine continues to make moves that enhance his growing popularity. His latest gesture has made waves, as he sent a direct message to Real Madrid following Barcelona’s confirmation that they would be facing their arch-rivals in the Copa del Rey final.
Lamine Yamal’s Message to Real Madrid
"SÁB 26. ABR see you soon," Lamine Yamal wrote in an Instagram post after Barcelona secured their spot in the final with a hard-fought victory over Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.
Real Madrid was already awaiting their opponent in this stage, but it’s clear that Lamine Yamal can’t wait to play another Clásico—his sixth against Los Blancos. The last time he faced them was in the Spanish Super Cup final, where Barcelona suffered a 5-2 defeat.
In that match, he scored his first-ever Clásico goal, and now, he has the chance to further cement his legacy in these historic clashes. Without a doubt, April 26 will be a significant date for both the 17-year-old and Barcelona.
Real Madrid vs. Barcelona in the Copa del Rey Final
This will mark the eighth Copa del Rey final between the two Spanish giants.
Historically, Real Madrid holds a slight edge, having won four of the previous seven final encounters. However, this will be the first time the Clásico will be played at La Cartuja, following previous finals held in Valencia (four times), Santiago Bernabéu, Vicente Calderón, and La Romareda.
The first-ever final between the two sides took place in 1936 in the Copa del Presidente de la República, just before the Spanish Civil War. Real Madrid won 2-1, with goals from Eugenio and Lecue, securing a triumphant farewell for the legendary goalkeeper Ricardo Zamora.
Barcelona responded in 1968, winning 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu thanks to an early own goal by Fernando Zunzunegui. In 1974, Real Madrid took revenge with a dominant 4-0 victory at the Vicente Calderón, avenging their humiliating 5-0 league defeat to Johan Cruyff’s Barcelona earlier that season.
The 1983 final in La Romareda saw Barcelona, led by César Luis Menotti, defeat Real Madrid 2-1 with a last-minute winner from Marcos Alonso. In 1990, Johan Cruyff’s Barcelona triumphed 2-0 in Valencia against John Benjamin Toshack’s Madrid, thanks to goals from Guillermo Amor and Julio Salinas.
The two most recent finals between the clubs have both ended in Real Madrid’s favor at Mestalla. In 2011, Cristiano Ronaldo’s extra-time header secured a 1-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona. In 2014, Gareth Bale’s legendary sprint past Marc Bartra sealed a 2-1 win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Barcelona enters this Clásico looking to extend its record as the most successful club in Copa del Rey history, boasting 31 titles—seven more than Athletic Club. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will aim to claim its 21st crown and close the gap on their eternal rivals.
