Dean Huijsen Places His Trust in Xabi Alonso: “We’re Going to Have Great Years Together”
Dean Huijsen, the Real Madrid’s new defender, did not hide his excitement about the project led by Xabi Alonso on the bench. In an exclusive interview with the club’s channel, the young center-back highlighted the strong team spirit and said that the squad is “very united” and “very happy” with the Spanish coach’s work.
“Xabi has great ideas. We’re all very committed, and I believe we’ll have very successful years with him. We are Madrid, we always have to win, and I’m sure we will,” Huijsen said confidently ahead of the team's second match in the FIFA Club World Cup.
A dream debut and dreams fulfilled
Huijsen, who recently joined the Spanish giants, already made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Al Hilal last Wednesday. About his first appearance, he said excitedly: “It’s a dream come true. Playing for Real Madrid is every child’s dream. It’s the best club in the world, and I’m so proud to be here.”

The next challenge for Xabi Alonso’s team will be against Pachuca this Sunday at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, kicking off at 3:00 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. in Spain). The match is seen as a key opportunity to solidify the Basque coach’s project and progress further in the international tournament.
Before the match, Xabi Alonso will speak to the media at 6:30 p.m. local time, one hour after Jaime Lozano, head coach of the Mexican side. It promises to be an intense battle, but the Madrid locker room remains confident in writing a new chapter under their new leader.
With young talent, strong leadership, and the club’s trademark winning DNA, Real Madrid stands out as one of the top contenders in this year’s Club World Cup.
