(VIDEO) All Goals From luminense vs Al-Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinals
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has its first semifinalist. This Friday, Fluminense defeated Al Hilal 2-1 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, securing a spot among the tournament’s final four, where they will face the winner of Palmeiras vs. Chelsea.
The Brazilian side, coached by Fernando Diniz, opened the scoring with a stunning goal from Matheus Martinelli in the first half, following a beautifully constructed team play. Although the Saudi club responded in the second half and equalized through Marcos Leonardo, the joy was short-lived: Hércules scored the winning goal, sending the Cariocas through.
Fluminense: composed and ambitious
After knocking out Inter Milan in the previous round, the Copa Libertadores champions once again proved their quality. With a well-balanced squad mixing youth and experience, Fluminense maintained an attacking, fluid and effective style of play. Despite missing left-back Renê due to suspension, the team adapted well and held firm against a dangerous opponent.
Veteran defender Thiago Silva, nearing his 41st birthday, was once again a rock at the back, showing he remains a vital leader. Up front, Martinelli’s creativity and Hércules’ finishing were the difference-makers.
Al Hilal bows out with pride
Simone Inzaghi’s side came into the match fresh off a stunning upset of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but couldn’t replicate the feat this time. While Marcos Leonardo once again made an impact, the Saudi club was unable to keep the momentum.

With stars like Malcom, Rúben Neves, and Koulibaly, Al Hilal leaves the tournament with heads held high, having impressed fans in their U.S. campaign.
What’s next?
The Club World Cup semifinals will take place next week in New York, where Fluminense awaits the winner of the clash between Palmeiras and Chelsea, in the quest for one of the most prestigious trophies in world club football.
