Which teams have already qualified for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup?
Cruz Azul has already secured its spot, and PSG, Al‑Ahli, and Pyramids are joining the race: this is how the puzzle for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup is starting to take shape. What other surprises await us in the tournament?
We're still feeling the aftermath of the first Club World Cup under the new format — where Chelsea were crowned champions after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the final — but four teams have already secured their place for the 2029 edition of this global tournament. Here's who they are.
The first 4 teams officially qualified
The 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, once again featuring 32 teams, already has its first participants confirmed based on the current qualification cycle (2025–2028):
- Cruz Azul (Mexico): 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup winner
- Paris Saint‑Germain (France): 2024–25 UEFA Champions League winner
- Al‑Ahli (Saudi Arabia): 2024–25 AFC Champions League winner
- Pyramids FC (Egypt): 2024–25 CAF Champions League winner
How the slots are allocated
The tournament will host 32 teams, distributed as follows:
- UEFA: 4 UCL winners + 8 based on club ranking
- CONMEBOL: 4 Libertadores winners + 2 by ranking
- AFC, CAF, CONCACAF: 4 each
- OFC: 1 slot
- Host nation: 1 automatic slot
As of now, only 4 of the 32 spots are filled.
What about the rest?
Over the next few years, these teams will qualify:
- Upcoming winners of the Champions League and Copa Libertadores (2025–2028)
- Clubs qualifying via UEFA and CONMEBOL rankings
- In total: 12 UEFA teams, 6 from South America, 4 from each remaining confederation, and 1 host team
So far, Real Madrid and Barcelona have not yet secured qualification. As for the host, Brazil has already submitted a bid, with Spain, Portugal, and the U.S. also in contention.
