De la Fuente Speaks About Yamal.
Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed Lamine Yamal escaped serious injury after the World Cup semifinal victory over France, while also providing an update on Pedro Porro's fitness ahead of the final.
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has reassured supporters after Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro both raised injury concerns during La Roja's 2-0 victory over France in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals.
Yamal appeared to struggle physically at several moments throughout the match, prompting fears that one of Spain's key players could miss the final. However, De la Fuente insisted the Barcelona star has not suffered a significant injury.
"As far as I know, Lamine has nothing serious. I've just spoken with the medical staff, and everything looks positive," the Spain coach said after the match.
The only remaining concern involves Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro, who was substituted in the 85th minute after experiencing muscle discomfort. According to De la Fuente, the defender is dealing with muscle overload and will undergo further evaluation before the final.
"It looks like muscle fatigue for Pedro Porro, but we'll know more tomorrow," he explained.
Beyond the injury updates, De la Fuente praised his team's outstanding display against the 2018 world champions, saying Spain's success is the result of years of talent development, hard work and tactical discipline.
"I'm amazed by what this team is capable of achieving, and I believe our room for improvement is enormous. This isn't luck—it's talent, dedication, sacrifice and perseverance," he said.
The coach also described Spanish footballers as among the smartest players in the world when it comes to understanding the game, crediting both clubs and youth development for that success.
Despite reaching another World Cup final, De la Fuente insisted Spain remains fully focused on completing the job and lifting the trophy, emphasizing that the most difficult challenge still lies ahead.
