Spain To Define Its World Cup Roster With de la Fuente at the Helm and Friendlies on the Way to the 2026 World Cup.
Spain finalizes details for the 2026 World Cup with a list of call-ups, friendlies against Iraq and Peru, and the hope of a competitive squad.
The 2026 World Cup is approaching, and so is the call-up even more.
The 2026 World Cup is getting closer and closer, and the anticipation around the Spanish national team grows day by day. In just a week, the final list of call-ups who will represent the Iberian team in North America will be known. Luis de la Fuente, the national coach, will be responsible for announcing the names of the 26 selected footballers at an official event that will take place on Monday, May 25, at the Movistar Space.
The schedule of the Spanish National Team and its upcoming matches
The national team's schedule is already set. The training camp will begin on Saturday, May 30, at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas, the usual epicenter of the Spanish national team's training sessions. From there, the World Cup preparation will begin, with the aim of being in the best possible shape for the group stage debut.
The presentation will not be limited solely to the main roster: the support players who will accompany the group until the friendly match against Iraq, scheduled for June 4 at the Riazor Stadium, will also be announced. These players will be available to strengthen the initial preparation and will bid farewell after that commitment, as confirmed by the coach himself.
After the match against Iraq, Spain will have a second international test: on June 8, they will face Peru at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium in Puebla, Mexico. This match will serve as a dress rehearsal before traveling to the tournament venue and will allow for adjustments in tactical and physical details.

High expectations for the call-up and the World Cup
The expectation is at its peak. The list of call-ups will set the tone for Spanish hopes and open the debate about the chosen names and the absences. With a squad that mixes talented youth and experience, De la Fuente will seek to consolidate a competitive group capable of fighting for the title. The countdown is already underway, and next Monday, the uncertainties that keep the fans on edge will be resolved.
