(VIDEO) All Goals from Real Madrid vs Valencia in La Liga
Real Madrid saw their chances of defending the LaLiga EA Sports crown take a major hit on Saturday, April 5, as they suffered a shocking 1-2 defeat to Valencia CF at the Santiago Bernabéu—the visitors' first away win of the season.
The star of the match was undoubtedly Giorgi Mamardashvili, the Valencia goalkeeper, who kept his team alive with nine saves, including a crucial penalty stop on Vinícius Júnior with the score still 0-0. His performance frustrated a Real Madrid side that dominated large portions of the match but failed to convert their chances.
Valencia took the lead in the 15th minute when Mouctar Diakhaby powered in a header from a corner. Real Madrid, physically worn down from a packed schedule, found themselves once again trailing at home.
They managed to equalize in the 50th minute, with Vinícius Júnior tapping in after a corner kick. But despite a wave of attacks, Madrid couldn’t find a second goal.
Instead, in dramatic fashion, Hugo Duro scored the winner in the 95th minute, converting a low cross inside the six-yard box after a late break from Valencia. The goal silenced the Bernabéu and marked a rare away triumph for the visitors.
