Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Kylian Mbappé after the forward was sent off during the Matchday 31 clash against Alavés in LaLiga. Following the harsh challenge he made on Antonio Blanco, fans quickly recalled a similar incident involving Mbappé from a few years ago.

Mbappé's Other Brutal Challenge

The French star was previously shown a red card on April 27, 2019, while playing for PSG in the French Cup Final against Stade Rennes. In extra time, at the 119th minute, Mbappé delivered a challenge strikingly similar to the one seen against Alavés.

PSG went on to lose that match in a penalty shootout, and Mbappé received a three-match suspension for his actions.

Initially, referee César Soto Grado issued a yellow card, but after consulting the VAR, he upgraded it to a straight red. From that moment, Carlo Ancelotti's side were forced to play with ten men.

This marked Mbappé’s first red card since joining Spanish football and the fourth of his professional career. It had been six years since he was last sent off.

According to the rules of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, such offenses typically carry a suspension of 1 to 3 matches. This means Mbappé is not expected to miss the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
