(VIDEO) Camavinga's Thunderbolt Keeps Real Madrid in the Title Race
A stunning left-footed strike from Eduardo Camavinga was enough to give Real Madrid a crucial 1-0 win over Deportivo Alavés on Matchday 31 of LaLiga EA Sports, played this Sunday at the Estadio de Mendizorroza.
A goal and a red card in a tense first half
The only goal of the match came in the 34th minute, when Camavinga found space just outside the box and fired a powerful shot past Owono. The spectacular goal gave a much-needed boost to Carlo Ancelotti’s side after back-to-back losses against Valencia and Arsenal.
However, the visitors' momentum was disrupted just before halftime, as Kylian Mbappé was sent off with a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Antonio Blanco, reducing Madrid to ten men.
Alavés tried to press their numerical advantage but struggled to create real danger against Thibaut Courtois. The second half saw the home side also go down to ten, as Manu Sánchez was sent off after picking up a second yellow card, leveling the field.
Despite a late push from Alavés—desperate for points to escape relegation—Real Madrid held firm and secured a hard-fought victory.
With this win, Los Blancos move up to 66 points, staying four behind league leaders FC Barcelona. Alavés, meanwhile, end the round just one point above UD Las Palmas, who sit in the relegation zone.
