A Former Liverpool Player Explains Why Jürgen Klopp Will Reject Real Madrid
The future of Jürgen Klopp remains a hot topic of discussion, especially after Real Madrid's elimination in the Champions League quarterfinals at the hands of Arsenal. Rumors are swirling about a possible move for the German coach to the Spanish club, particularly after reports suggested Klopp might be interested in the Real Madrid job as well as the Brazil national team role. However, a former Liverpool player doesn’t see Klopp taking on that challenge.
Markus Babbel believes Klopp would turn down Real Madrid
Markus Babbel, former Liverpool defender, recently shared his opinion in an interview. According to Babbel, he doesn’t think Klopp would accept an offer from Real Madrid to replace Carlo Ancelotti should the Italian depart this summer. Babbel noted that the pressure at Madrid is far greater than at any other club, and it’s precisely this intensity that could push Klopp away from the role.
“Jürgen Klopp has made it clear in the past that the stress and pressure of coaching a club as big as Real Madrid is not something he’s looking for right now. The pressure in Madrid is brutal. If you lose a couple of games, it feels like the sky is falling. I don’t think Klopp would want to be in that situation. He’s enjoying a peaceful life now, working with Red Bull on an exciting project,” Babbel said.
Will Klopp return to club management?
Despite growing calls for Klopp to return to the sidelines, Babbel doubts that the German will go back to club management. The former Liverpool player believes the only way Klopp would coach again is if he were offered a position with the Germany national team.
“The only scenario I can imagine him returning is with a national team, maybe Germany if Julian Nagelsmann decides to leave. If the whole of German football asked him to take over, that might be a project that attracts him. But honestly, I don’t see him going back to club football,” Babbel explained.
The Madrid pressure and Ancelotti’s future
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti remains in charge at Real Madrid, but his future could hinge on this season’s results. Despite the mounting pressure after the Champions League exit, winning LaLiga or the Copa del Rey could secure his position for another season.
While Jürgen Klopp's name will likely continue to pop up in speculation, Babbel makes it clear that the German coach might not be willing to take on the immense pressure that comes with managing a club as demanding as Real Madrid.
