Ancelotti Knows the Conditions He Must Meet to Continue at Real Madrid
‘The Athletic’ reported that Carlo Ancelotti will remain the coach of Real Madrid if he wins La Liga or the Champions League.
Just days after gaining an advantage over Atlético de Madrid in the round of 16 of the Champions League ahead of the return match at the Metropolitano, Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid remains unresolved, and ‘The Athletic’ revealed the conditions he must meet to continue on the bench.

Xabi Alonso and Ancelotti: Crossed Paths
Carlo Ancelotti’s current contract with Real Madrid expires on June 30, 2026. This means he still has the right to remain for one more season at the Santiago Bernabéu. However, according to The Athletic, his continued stay at Real Madrid depends on the results achieved at the end of the season. If he wins La Liga or the Champions League, he will fulfill his contract.
Now, it’s no secret that the primary goal for Real Madrid to occupy the Santiago Bernabéu bench is Xabi Alonso. Therefore, if the opportunity arises next summer to bring him in from Bayer Leverkusen, it seems likely that Ancelotti will not continue, regardless of the outcome. In that case, as Ancelotti himself says, it will be Florentino Pérez who will have to make the decision.
Ancelotti Doesn’t Want to Leave Real Madrid
If Ancelotti has to leave Real Madrid next summer, his options are two: take the helm of Brazil or accept the call from Totti and manage Roma. However, in any case, ‘The Athletic’ made it clear that Carlo Ancelotti has no intention of coaching in the Saudi Pro League and enjoying a golden career finale.
What’s clear is that Carlo Ancelotti will never be the one to decide when his adventure with Real Madrid ends: “I won’t decide when my adventure with Madrid will end. I’m sure of that. The president will decide, sooner or later it will happen,” said Carlo Ancelotti in this interview conducted on the podcast ‘PorettiCast’.
