Ancelotti Praises Xabi Alonso: “I Don’t Have Any Advice to Give Him”
Carlo Ancelotti spoke publicly for the first time since being confirmed as Brazil’s next head coach. While excited for the challenge, he remains focused on ending his time at Real Madrid on a high note. He also praised Xabi Alonso as his potential successor.
Focused on Closing Out His Time at Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of Real Madrid, broke his silence after it became official that he will take charge of the Brazil national team starting May 26. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the match against Mallorca, the Italian expressed his excitement for the new challenge but emphasized that his focus remains on finishing strong with the Spanish giants.

“On a personal level, yes, from May 26 I’ll be the coach of Brazil. It’s a very important challenge, but until then, I’m the coach of Real Madrid and I want to finish this incredible adventure the right way,” said Ancelotti.
Despite the media buzz, the coach asked for respect during his final days with the club: “I’m fully focused on what I need to do in these last games. I respect this shirt, the club, the fans, and the players.”
No Advice Needed for Xabi Alonso
One of the most notable moments in the press conference came when Ancelotti was asked about Xabi Alonso, the Bayer Leverkusen manager strongly linked as his successor. In classic Ancelotti style, he praised the former midfielder without hesitation: “I don’t have any advice to give him. He’s very intelligent and knows exactly what he has to do.”
While he didn’t go into detail about how he will handle his first squad selection for Brazil, Ancelotti acknowledged that he already has a plan for the remaining two weeks: “I know exactly how I’ll manage these days. There are three matches to prepare, and after the 25th, I’ll switch focus to what comes next.”
Regarding the timing of the announcement, the coach made it clear that it was a decision made by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF): “They decided to release the statement, and it’s now official. Real Madrid will make their announcement whenever they feel it’s appropriate.”
As his days at the Santiago Bernabéu come to an end, Carlo Ancelotti remains composed and professional. With his legacy at Real Madrid nearly complete, he now sets his sights on one of the most storied national teams in the world.
