Arsenal Monitoring Jules Koundé and Preparing €65M Bid
El defensor francés está en el radar de varios clubes de la Premier League.
Jules Koundé has been one of FC Barcelona’s standout performers during the 2024/25 season, and his form has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite. According to British outlet TEAMtalk, Arsenal is preparing a bid close to €65 million to sign the French defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The North London club — which could potentially face Barça in a hypothetical Champions League final — sees Koundé as the ideal reinforcement to bolster its backline. Premier League interest is not new, as Chelsea had previously been linked with the player as well.
Contract situation and Barça’s stance
Koundé joined Barcelona in 2022 from Sevilla and is under contract until June 30, 2027. The Catalan club remains calm regarding his contractual status, but early talks have already begun to explore a potential extension.
The defender has a €1 billion release clause, serving as a significant safeguard should any club attempt to bypass negotiations with Barça.
Key figure in Flick’s plans
For head coach Hansi Flick, Koundé is a vital component of the team’s defensive setup. His versatility, defensive awareness, and international experience have made him a regular starter — whether at right-back or in his natural centre-back role.
Barcelona sees the Frenchman as a cornerstone of their long-term project. While there are currently no signs of an imminent departure, the club is determined to prioritize his continuity in the coming months.
