Barcelona Crushed Real Madrid in LaLiga and these Statistics Prove It
With a convincing 2-0 victory over Espanyol, Barcelona secured the LaLiga title with two matches remaining in the season, demonstrating their superiority in nearly every key statistical category of the tournament, especially offensively.
Total dominance in numbers
According to data from BeSoccer Pro, the team led by Hansi Flick far exceeds the league's average goal-scoring rate, averaging 2.61 goals per game (94 in 36 matches), while the overall league average is only 1.27 goals. This dominance is also reflected in shots on target, with 6.56 attempts per game compared to 3.77 for the rest of the teams.
Additionally, the Blaugrana lead in assists (1.94 per game compared to 0.88) and dribbles, averaging 29.56 per match, well above the 20.23 recorded by the other league teams.
Barça rules possession and combination play
Barcelona's dominance also extends to ball possession, holding the ball an impressive 68.47% of the time during their matches. The only team approaching this level is the runner-up, Real Madrid, with 60.08%, but still far from the champion’s mark.
Regarding passes, Barcelona completes 618.81 per game, far exceeding the league average of 439.34. However, in pass accuracy, they rank second with 88.65%, just behind Real Madrid's 89.86%.
Despite leading in almost all offensive areas, Barça is not the most efficient in front of goal, with a shooting accuracy of 38.83%, a figure surpassed by Espanyol, who boasts 40% accuracy and is the most clinical team in the league.
Leaders in duels and high pressing
The champion also excels in individual duels, winning 64.02% of defensive duels and 31.5% of offensive ones, numbers higher than the league averages of 61.57% and 24.39%, respectively.
Moreover, Barcelona is the team that recovers the ball the most in the opponent’s half, with 32.5 recoveries per game compared to the league average of 22.11, clearly showing their aggressive pressing style, a hallmark of Flick's team.
Offside: a constant trap
Another defining trait of the current Barça is their ability to catch opponents offside. In the 36 matches played, they have forced opponents into offside 171 times, an average of 4.75 per game, far above the league average of 1.85.
Finally, although Barcelona has dominated many aspects, they are not the best defensively. They concede an average of one goal per match, the same as Getafe, while Athletic Club (0.72) and Atlético de Madrid have better defensive numbers.
With these stats, it’s clear that Barcelona's title was no accident but the result of consistent superiority on the pitch that left Real Madrid and other rivals far behind in the LaLiga race.
