Courtois Talks About Kylian Mbappé's Condition
Real Madrid's Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, reassured fans regarding Kylian Mbappé's injury after the Frenchman left the field in the 35th minute during the match against Atalanta, following his goal in the team's victory. Courtois is confident that Mbappé's injury is "not serious" and believes he will be available for the Intercontinental Cup final in eight days.
"He felt a bit of muscle tightening, but I don’t think it’s anything serious. He stopped at the right time. We might lose him for the weekend, but I believe he’ll be ready after that," said the goalkeeper.
Courtois also highlighted the significance of the win against the Serie A leaders, who were in great form both in their domestic league and the Champions League. The victory helped Real Madrid bounce back after suffering three defeats in their previous five matches.
"We knew it was a very tough venue. We started with chances and the goal, but then it got harder, and the penalty was just bad luck. We adjusted things at halftime, and we were better in the second half. We held off their final pushes well," analyzed the goalkeeper.
Lastly, Courtois stressed the importance of maintaining the same level of performance: "Sometimes we struggle to start both the first and second halves. Today was the opposite. We’re very happy with the win in such a tough place, and now we have to do the same against Salzburg and Brest."
