Davide Ancelotti Defends Mbappé: “He’s Not a Violent Kid”
Kylian Mbappé’s first red card as a Real Madrid player continues to make headlines. But according to Davide Ancelotti, assistant coach and son of Carlo Ancelotti, the French striker’s actions in the 1-0 win over Alavés do not reflect his true character.
Speaking to the media after the match, Ancelotti Jr. admitted the tackle deserved a red card, but urged people not to misjudge the player:
“It was clearly a red card and he’s paying the price. But he’s not a violent kid. The many little fouls he suffered led to that reaction, though I’m not trying to justify it.”
He also revealed that Mbappé felt bad about the incident, apologized to his teammates, and is fully aware of his mistake.
“We’ll try to win everything”
Turning his attention to the team’s objectives, Davide Ancelotti expressed optimism about both LaLiga and the Champions League, despite the challenges ahead:
“Winning LaLiga and coming back against Arsenal are two very difficult things, but we have the clarity to believe we can do both. Everyone is convinced—we’re going to try.”
With Carlo Ancelotti suspended, Davide took the reins for the match in Vitoria, calling the experience “incredible” despite the nerves:
“I was nervous at the start, but I enjoyed it a lot. He let me manage the final minutes. That trust has helped me grow. If I’m here, it’s because of him.”
