Flick Confirms the Absences of Araujo and Raphinha... and Does He Take a Shot at Real Madrid?
Barcelona will not be able to count on Ronald Araujo and Raphinha to face Osasuna next Thursday
The postponed match between Barcelona and Osasuna due to the death of Dr. Carles Miñarro has been the main topic of conversation at ‘Can Barça’ throughout the FIFA Window. Especially after LaLiga and the Federation ignored the protests from both clubs not to play the match on March 27. A situation that, in the end, led Hansi Flick to make the decision to rule out Ronald Araujo and Raphinha.

Not even the private jet saves Araujo and Raphinha
Barcelona did everything possible to ensure that Araujo and Raphinha arrived in the best condition after playing with Uruguay and Brazil in the 2026 South American Qualifiers. They even arranged a private jet for both players to make their return home easier. However, due to the thousands of miles they have to travel, Hansi Flick decided to leave both players off the squad for the match against Osasuna as a form of protest.
“They won’t play or be in the team. They’re out because the flight is very long, and it’s not the ideal situation. They need to recover. Ronald didn’t play the last match with Uruguay, but I don’t know what kind of training he’s done with his national team. Ronald had a serious injury, came from a long flight, and it’s not the best way to recover. After an injury like that, it’s good to train before playing. We’ll see what happens for Sunday,” said Hansi Flick in a press conference.
A shot from Flick at Real Madrid?
The last sentence spoken by Hansi Flick was clearly aimed at the complaints made by Real Madrid, claiming they would no longer show up to a match without more than 72 hours of rest. This situation will now be experienced by FC Barcelona as the starting point for a schedule that is extremely compressed following the FIFA Window, which will force them to play five matches in less than 15 days.
“The team is prepared. We know what we have to do, the workload they’ve had, what they’ve shown us... That’s what we need to focus on. We need to stay positive,” added Hansi Flick. And after this postponed match against Osasuna, Barcelona will face a visit from Girona less than 72 hours later... before traveling again to the Metropolitano to play the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals against Atlético de Madrid.
