Flick on The Urgent Injunction for Olmo and Víctor: "It’s Very Good News"
FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick celebrated the decision by Spain's Higher Sports Council (CSD) to grant the urgent injunction requested by the club regarding the licenses of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, describing it as "very good news." The German coach emphasized the importance of this resolution for the team’s peace of mind, which had been dealing with weeks of uncertainty about the future of both players.
"I found out on the bus and immediately informed Pau and Dani, as well as the entire team. It’s very good news for us. We are very happy, the players are happy, and the entire club is happy about this decision," Flick said in an interview with Movistar+. The coach acknowledged that the uncertainty had made it difficult to have "the best weeks," but he assured that this ruling serves as an additional motivation for the team as they approach upcoming challenges.
The Higher Sports Council decided on Wednesday to suspend the agreement of the Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement, which had canceled the sporting licenses of Olmo and Víctor. Thanks to this injunction, their licenses will remain valid until the final resolution of the appeal filed by FC Barcelona. However, the players will not be available for the Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Club.
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta also celebrated the CSD's decision with great enthusiasm. According to footage captured by TV3, Laporta reacted with smiles, hugging his advisor Enric Masip, and made a fist pump in a gesture of triumph. This scene took place inside the King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah, minutes before the match against Athletic Club.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's sporting director, Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco', expressed optimism that both Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor would be available for a potential final on Sunday if the team advances past the semifinal. Deco stressed that this decision by the CSD provides the club with greater peace of mind amid the recent controversy.
Although the absence of Olmo and Víctor in the semifinal is a setback, Flick believes the team has the resources to face the challenge. He also highlighted that this decision not only benefits the club on a sporting level but also strengthens the unity of the group. "It’s another reason to win the match," the German coach concluded.
