Flick Responds to Ancelotti Amid Title Race Tension
FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick responded on Saturday to recent comments made by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, as the rivalry between Spain’s two biggest clubs intensifies in the fight for the LaLiga EA Sports title. While tensions rise, Flick opted for a respectful and composed approach, choosing to emphasize values over confrontation.
“I have a lot of respect for Real Madrid, its history, and for Carlo Ancelotti, who is one of the greatest coaches in the world and also a good person,” said Flick during his press conference ahead of Barcelona’s clash against Girona on Matchday 29.
“We are Barça, and we’re different”
Flick made it clear that Barcelona's identity remains unique:
“We are Barça. We’re different from Real Madrid. What I see from the players coming from La Masia is fantastic. This feels like a family—not just between players and coaches, but throughout the entire club.”
The German coach praised the internal atmosphere and the club’s unity, underlining how comfortable he feels at Camp Nou:
“I feel great here. I’m happy. That’s what I like.”
Title race wide open
With Barcelona currently leading LaLiga with 63 points, three ahead of Real Madrid, Flick was quick to downplay the idea that the title will be decided in a single match—even though El Clásico still awaits.
“There are many games left. Our goal is to win them all. The most important thing is to focus on the next one,” he said.
He added that while satisfied with the team’s performance, there's still room to grow:
“I'm happy, but we can do better. Every day we must take steps forward to improve.”
Barcelona are not only fighting for the domestic league crown—they’re also in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey, where they’ll face third-placed Atlético Madrid in another high-stakes showdown.
