The future of Frenkie de Jong at FC Barcelona has reached a critical juncture. According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, negotiations to renew the Dutch midfielder's contract have become increasingly complicated. De Jong, regarded as a key player by coach Hansi Flick to achieve this season's objectives, now faces uncertainty over his long-term stay at the club.

Barcelona has reportedly withdrawn a renewal offer made last year, further intensifying doubts about De Jong's continuity.

With his current contract running until 2026, De Jong remains a central figure for Hansi Flick, who is counting on him to regain top form for crucial matches in La Liga and the Champions League, including an important clash against Atlético Madrid.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s management is carefully evaluating De Jong’s performance and his willingness to engage in discussions about his future.

Earlier this year, the club presented an offer to extend De Jong’s contract by at least three years without any reduction in salary. 

The midfielder rejected the proposal, and Barcelona has now officially withdrawn it. Any future negotiations will have to start from scratch, and there’s no indication that De Jong or his representatives are actively seeking to reopen talks.
