Guardiola Asks about this Star for his Manchester City and Barcelona Shuts the Door
Various media outlets in England have been reporting in recent weeks that Manchester City wants to sign Pedri from FC Barcelona
Despite securing their seventh consecutive qualification to the FA Cup semifinals, Manchester City is aware that their season has been a complete disaster and the project needs a thorough reconstruction. Therefore, according to various media outlets in England, Guardiola has set his sights on a star from FC Barcelona… and they’ve automatically closed the door.

Guardiola wants to take Pedri to Manchester City
It’s Pedri. Without a doubt, one of the driving forces of this FC Barcelona, operating behind the attacking trio formed by Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski, and Raphinha. After several seasons in which he couldn’t find consistency due to injuries, Pedri has become the beacon that lights up Barcelona’s play, acting as the engine room. To this day, many experts consider him the best midfielder in Europe.
Such is his importance to the team that he has only missed one of the 45 matches that FC Barcelona has played this season… and he has started 42 of them. Only Jules Koundé (3,721’) surpasses the 3,462 minutes Pedri has played this season. In fact, he is just 30 minutes away from surpassing his season with the most playing time (2020-21) since joining Barcelona. “This is one of the seasons I’m enjoying the most, the teammates make it very easy for me. I hope to keep having fun and winning,” he recently said.
Locked down by Barcelona until 2030
According to various media outlets in Spain, Barcelona has no knowledge of any offers from Manchester City to sign Pedri… though they also admit they’re not surprised, as he is one of the best footballers in the world. Guardiola, in fact, sees him as a key player to take over from players like De Bruyne, Gündogan, or Bernardo Silva. All of them, barring any surprises, will not continue at the Etihad Stadium next season.
Pedri, thus announced, has no intention of leaving FC Barcelona, as he made clear when he extended his contract last January until 2030. “I imagined this since I was a child, and reality always surpasses dreams. I’m very happy to renew and extend this dream. Now, we have to go for it all and keep winning titles. Signing is the most beautiful thing that’s happened to me in a long time, and I’m happy to be where I want to be,” he said at his renewal event. Nothing has changed, nor does it seem like it will… despite the interest from Guardiola and his Manchester City.
