He Is the Trendiest Center-Back in the Premier League, Called Up to Spain… and Is Being Courted by Real Madrid
Dean Huijsen is, alongside Raúl Asencio, the big surprise for Spain in the quarterfinals of the Nations League against Netherlands
Despite still having the chance to achieve an unprecedented treble of LaLiga, Champions League, and Copa del Rey, the sports management of Real Madrid never rests. For months, they have been working on the idea of signing a new central defender for next season, and according to MARCA, Dean Huijsen has become the favorite option.

Huijsen enters Real Madrid’s radar
After failing to secure the signing of Leny Yoro last summer due to their inability to match the offer made by Manchester United, Real Madrid's planning for the central defense was, practically, a suicidal act, since Alaba had not yet recovered from his knee injury and Nacho Fernández left as a free agent.
The subsequent injury to Eder Militao opened the door for Raúl Asencio at Real Madrid, who barely needed a few months to be called up to Spain. He is undoubtedly the big surprise of the European champion… along with Dean Huijsen, who has established himself as the trendiest center-back in the Premier League thanks to his great performance at Bournemouth and was added to the squad at the last minute due to the unexpected injury of Iñigo Martínez.
Huijsen responds to Real Madrid's interest
Right now, Real Madrid has four center-backs in the squad for next season. However, Alaba and Rüdiger are both over 30 years old, and Militao must recover from his second serious knee injury. Therefore, it is clear that Real Madrid needs young talent for their defense, and the £50 million release clause in Dean Huijsen’s contract with Bournemouth presents a market opportunity.
According to MARCA, he is not the only one on the list. There are also other young talents like Hato… or more established figures like Saliba, Konaté, or Lukeba. However, the option of Dean Huijsen is becoming increasingly attractive… and he is willing to listen: “It’s an honor when you hear about Real Madrid's interest. I am proud that such a big club is interested in me,” he recently confessed in an interview with Relevo.
