Kylian Mbappé Doesn’t Deserve to Be Booed, and His Stats Confirm That He’s the Best Player at Real Madrid.
There’s a situation brewing at Real Madrid.
Recently, Kylian Mbappé was booed while sitting in the stands during the match against Athletic Club due to his suspension—an act that makes little sense and is not proportional to what the Frenchman has contributed all season.
I can only say that if there’s one player who doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment, it’s Mbappé.
Mbappé is the top performer at Real Madrid
When the player was shown on the big screen, the boos rang out. But it's time to talk about his performance, which far outweighs the reckless foul that led to his suspension.
Positive comments about Fede Valverde are common—and rightly so. The Uruguayan midfielder leads Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in playing time with 4,282 minutes across all competitions. But the truth is, Mbappé isn’t far behind.
The French forward is the second-most used player for Los Blancos this season with 4,023 minutes. He would have been even closer to Valverde had he played against Athletic. That’s a major plus for Mbappé.
He’s a goal-scoring machine
It makes no sense to criticize the player who has brought you closest to victory. Kylian Mbappé is Real Madrid’s top scorer with 32 goals—12 more than Vinícius Jr. (20) and 19 more than Rodrygo (13), the next closest in the rankings.
Yes, the Frenchman needed some time to adapt, but it’s clear he has delivered and should not feel discouraged by a minority who may be upset for no valid reason.
Mbappé’s Miraculous Recovery Ahead of Barcelona Clash
Ahead of a tough visit to the Coliseum to face Getafe and keep their LaLiga title hopes alive, the day began with two major pieces of good news for Real Madrid as they prepare for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. Unexpectedly, both Ferland Mendy and Kylian Mbappé took part in the final training session before the match against Getafe.
In Mendy’s case, there had been hope he might return in time for the Champions League match against Arsenal—just like Dani Ceballos. However, his recovery was slower than expected and he only rejoined the squad today.
Mbappé’s presence at training was far more surprising, considering it hasn’t even been a full week since the ankle injury that forced him off the pitch during the Arsenal game.
From the moment he left the field with 15 minutes to go, Mbappé’s mind was already focused on recovering in time for the Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona. His race against the clock has turned what was expected to be a two-week absence into little more than a footnote.
Real Madrid Doesn’t Want to Take Risks with Mbappé
Although Mbappé took part in the latest training session, speculation quickly arose about whether he might feature in tomorrow’s match at the Coliseum to get back into rhythm ahead of the Copa del Rey final.
However, Real Madrid has no intention of taking any risks, as the main goal is to have him fully ready to face Barcelona.
