Kylian Mbappé’s Best Version Boosts Real Madrid
The French forward, who faced criticism for his adaptation early in the season, has found his best form and now stands as one of the top contenders for the Pichichi while solidifying his role as the leader of the Madrid squad.
Kylian Mbappé continues to shine with Real Madrid, making a statement with his first LaLiga hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid.
Mbappé, the cornerstone of Madrid’s attack
In the absence of Vinícius Jr., who is suspended and will also miss the Champions League clash against Brest, Mbappé stepped up as the offensive leader. The early part of the season saw the Frenchman struggling to adapt to Real Madrid’s style, but he has overcome those challenges.
“I was overthinking, and it showed in games. I was concerned about how to adapt, move, and find space,” Mbappé recently admitted, acknowledging the difficulties he faced during his initial months with the team.
These doubts peaked in December when he missed two consecutive penalties, first at Anfield and then at San Mamés, contributing to key defeats for the team. However, following the match against Athletic Club, Mbappé experienced a shift in mindset. “I told myself, ‘Come on, at Madrid, you have to play well always.’ And from that moment, everything improved,” confessed the Frenchman.
A remarkable start to 2025
Since then, Mbappé has scored in five consecutive matches, netting goals against Celta de Vigo in the Copa del Rey, a brace against UD Las Palmas, a goal in the Champions League against Salzburg, and his first LaLiga hat-trick against Valladolid. This scoring streak leaves him just three games away from matching his personal best of eight consecutive matches with goals, a record he set in 2022 with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappé’s numbers in 2025 are remarkable. While Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona’s striker, ended 2024 as the top scorer with 16 goals, the Frenchman has quickly closed the gap. Mbappé currently has 22 goals in 32 matches and is just one goal shy of equaling the Polish forward, who still has a pending game against Valencia.
Mbappé drives Real Madrid to the top
Mbappé’s scoring surge has not only placed him in contention for the Pichichi but has also been crucial for Real Madrid in securing the top spot in LaLiga EA Sports. The Madrid squad now holds a four-point lead over Atlético de Madrid, with Mbappé firmly establishing himself as the leader of the team and the competition.
The Frenchman’s next challenge will be to maintain this goal-scoring streak in the crucial matches ahead as Real Madrid aims to solidify its position at the top and extend its lead in the standings. Mbappé, in his extraordinary form, promises to be the key player for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in their pursuit of this season’s titles.
