Lewandowski silences critics about his age with goals and pulls away from Mbappé
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski played a key role in his team’s 4-1 win over Girona, bagging a brace that strengthens his lead in the LaLiga EA Sports top scorer race with 25 goals. After the match, the Polish forward responded to criticism about his age: "A lot of people talk about me being 36, but I feel great physically."
Speaking to DAZN, Lewandowski insisted that he hasn’t noticed any decline in his performance compared to previous years and remains focused on helping the team. "I'm very happy and full of confidence," he said.
Total control at the Estadi Lluís Companys
The striker pointed out that Barcelona had "everything under control" in the first half against Girona, though they lacked "the final pass" to create more danger. In the second half, the Blaugrana played "more offensively" and capitalized on their chances.
"Sometimes we don’t score early, but we stay patient and stick to our plan," he explained. He also emphasized that if the team maintains the same level of focus shown in this match, they will be "very dangerous" for the rest of the season.
