Real Madrid Hit by More Injuries Ahead of 2025 Club World Cup
Real Madrid continues to suffer a wave of injuries, with nine players officially ruled out for this Wednesday’s LaLiga EA Sports match against Mallorca, part of Matchday 36. The latest blow came with the injury to Vinícius Júnior, who suffered an ankle sprain during El Clásico against Barcelona.
“Following tests carried out today on our player Vinícius Jr., he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left ankle. Pending evolution,” read the official medical report released by the club on Monday afternoon.
Adding to the woes, Lucas Vázquez also finished the Clásico with discomfort and has now been diagnosed with an injury to the left pectineus muscle, according to the club’s statement.
Defensive Emergency for Ancelotti
With Carlo Ancelotti confirmed as the next manager of the Brazil national team, the Italian coach is now navigating his final matches with Real Madrid amid a full-blown injury crisis.
In defense, only Fran García and Jesús Vallejo remain available from the original first-team squad. The coach may be forced to rely on Raúl Asencio, a Castilla academy player promoted in November, to fill the gaps.
Nine Players Out + One Suspended
Here’s the full list of unavailable players:
- Dani Carvajal
- Éder Militão
- Antonio Rüdiger
- David Alaba
- Ferland Mendy
- Eduardo Camavinga
- Vinícius Júnior
- Lucas Vázquez
- Aurélien Tchouaméni (suspended due to yellow card accumulation)
With the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup looming — where Real Madrid will face top teams from across the globe — the current physical condition of the squad has become a growing concern for both the coaching staff and club executives.
These final weeks of the season won’t just mark the end of Ancelotti’s time in Madrid, but could also shape how prepared Los Blancos are for one of the most demanding tournaments in world football.
