Robert Lewandowski Challenges Kylian Mbappé in the Strikers' Other Battle
Although many believed that Robert Lewandowski wouldn't contribute much to FC Barcelona, the Polish striker has proven otherwise, even competing against Kylian Mbappé for the LaLiga "Pichichi" title.
Robert Lewandowski Keeps Scoring
The Barcelona forward once again found the net in the domestic league, scoring one of the three goals that secured Hansi Flick’s team a victory against Osasuna on Matchday 27. With this goal, he remains firmly at the top of the scoring chart with 23 goals, two more than Kylian Mbappé, who has 20.
Trailing further behind is Osasuna’s Croatian striker, Ante Budimir, with 15 goals. However, the race is primarily shaping up to be a two-player contest that will intensify as the season progresses.
Lewandowski’s Goals Boost Barcelona
Beyond individual achievements, Lewandowski’s goals have significantly contributed to Barcelona’s efforts in the LaLiga title race. Their recent victory brought them to 63 points, keeping them within three points of Real Madrid and seven ahead of Atlético Madrid.
The good news for Barcelona is that they secured this crucial win in a rescheduled match, but there won’t be much time to rest. On March 30, they’ll face Girona at home.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will host Leganés at the Santiago Bernabéu the day before.
With the season far from over, the title race remains wide open. Predicting which team, including Atlético Madrid, will lift the LaLiga trophy is still a bold call. There's plenty of football left to be played.
