Robert Lewandowski's Second Youth: The Rebirth of a Goal Scorer in Barcelona
It seems that 36 is the prime of youth—or at least, that's how Robert Lewandowski is making it look as he enjoys a second golden age at FC Barcelona.
The veteran Polish striker has netted 38 goals this season, 25 of them in LaLiga, making him the league’s top scorer so far. But his impact goes beyond just numbers; it's his ability to link up with teammates and elevate the team’s overall play that makes him invaluable.
Whether it’s Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Pedri, Dani Olmo, or Fermín López, Lewy continues to be a key offensive reference. His vision and experience make him an essential piece in Barcelona’s tactical setup.
"There’s No Difference Between Now and a Few Years Ago"
“I know a lot of people talk about my age. But I’ve worked hard to keep playing at the top level for a few more years. I feel great physically. If you look at the data, there’s no difference between now and a few years ago,” Lewandowski stated after Barcelona’s recent victory over Girona.
At 36, the Polish forward finds himself surrounded by a new generation of talents like Lamine Yamal, Fermín López, Gavi, Marc Casadó, and Pau Cubarsí. Yet, rather than being a distant veteran, he blends seamlessly into the squad, sharing jokes and enjoying training sessions as if he were just another young prospect.
A Leader On and Off the Pitch
Head coach Hansi Flick did not hold back in praising his star striker: “He is in great shape. Lewandowski is very important for the team. He is scoring goals, very important goals,” the German manager emphasized.
With a rejuvenated Lewandowski, who seems to have discovered the fountain of youth, Barcelona continues to dream of achieving the treble. His experience and leadership will be crucial in the season’s final stretch.
