Ronald Araujo Talks About His Future at Barcelona and This Season’s Goal
Barcelona’s Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo stated on Tuesday that the team's "clear goal" is to "win LaLiga" and he’s convinced it’s still possible, saying "there are still a lot of points left, and there's a chance to make it happen."
The central defender acknowledged, however, that Barcelona "no longer has room for error" after dropping so many points and must "get three points each time" if it wants to stay in contention for the title. Araujo emphasized that the key will be to maintain consistent performance in the upcoming matches.
Araujo on His Future and Renewal
Araujo made these statements at the Old Damm Factory, where he attended as co-sponsor of the 19th edition of the book Relatos Solidarios del Deporte, which raised 94,411.86 euros, to be donated to the Enriqueta Villavecchia Childhood Oncology Foundation. The defender also talked about his renewal with Barcelona, saying he was always "calm" during the negotiations because he was certain that he wanted to stay at the club for "many years."
On the Refereeing Controversy and the Derby
Asked about Real Madrid’s formal complaint against the refereeing body, Araujo preferred to avoid the controversy. "It’s not for me to get into details or comment on that. We are focused on our own business, on everything that lies ahead," he commented. He also refused to take sides on the upcoming derby between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, simply wishing for "a result where both drop points."
