Tebas Calls Real Madrid a 'Crybaby' After Complaints
The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, stated on Monday that "Dani Olmo should not finish the season with Barça" and labeled Real Madrid as "a crybaby club" for its constant complaints about refereeing. He also asserted that the club "has no right to claim that the competition is rigged or to disrespect LaLiga and all its teams."
The Dani Olmo Controversy
"He shouldn’t finish the season with Barça. We submitted a very clear report. On January 3, we requested certain guarantees because the entity didn't seem very solvent. Then, the money arrived, it went through the CSD, and in 24 hours, they resolved it, granting a precautionary measure while questioning some aspects. Olmo signed his agreements knowing that he might not be registered in December. He was fully aware that this could happen," Tebas explained at an event hosted by Europa Press.
Direct Criticism of Real Madrid
Tebas acknowledged that teams have the right to express dissatisfaction if they feel affected by refereeing decisions, but he criticized Real Madrid for how it does so through its official channel, Real Madrid TV.
"Clubs can issue statements, but what Real Madrid does is different. They do it through a national television channel, pointing out the referee before the match even starts and then highlighting mistakes in a biased manner. No other team does that," he remarked.
He also compared Real Madrid's behavior to that of Atlético de Madrid, which recently protested against a referee decision: "What Atlético de Madrid did, I see with some irony, and I don’t find it disproportionate. What I do see as excessive is what Real Madrid TV has been doing for the past year or year and a half. Real Madrid is a team with such superiority that it shouldn't be crying over a single play."
The LaLiga president referred to the foul suffered by Kylian Mbappé in the match against Espanyol, an incident in which the Madrid club believed Carlos Romero should have been sent off.
