Vinícius Jr. Could Be Furious Over Trent Alexander-Arnold's Potential Real Madrid Salary
Reports from England suggest that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s transfer to Real Madrid is practically a done deal, according to Sky Sports. The 26-year-old right-back is expected to join the Spanish club on a free transfer this summer, becoming a marquee signing.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: Galactic Salary at Real Madrid
The England international won’t arrive as just another player — he’s set to earn a salary comparable to superstar players like Vinícius Jr., Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham, around $16 million per year. This figure matches the upper limit of Real Madrid’s salary scale, established by club president Florentino Pérez.
This move would see Alexander-Arnold’s wages increase from $12 million at Liverpool to $16 million at Real Madrid. The big question now is whether this will impact the dressing room dynamics, although expectations are that the squad will respond professionally.
What About Vinícius Jr.’s Contract Renewal?
The signing of Alexander-Arnold could have significant repercussions for Vinícius Jr.’s ongoing contract negotiations. The Brazilian forward’s representatives are reportedly seeking a net annual salary of €27 million — a figure that would far exceed the wages of Mbappé and Bellingham, making it difficult for Real Madrid to accommodate.
Vinícius Jr. aims for a salary that reflects his status as one of the world’s top players. However, Alexander-Arnold’s arrival complicates these negotiations. Additionally, the Englishman would receive a hefty signing bonus, akin to a “reasonable transfer fee” due to his free-agent status, similar to Mbappé’s deal. Unlike Bellingham and Vinícius Jr., for whom Real Madrid paid €130 million to Borussia Dortmund and €60 million to Flamengo, respectively, Alexander-Arnold’s move comes without a transfer fee.
A Luxury Addition for Real Madrid
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has faced challenges this season due to Dani Carvajal’s injury. With Lucas Vázquez expected to leave, Alexander-Arnold’s arrival would relieve the need to play midfielder Fede Valverde as a makeshift right-back, a role he has often filled this season.
If the signing is confirmed, the focus will shift to how this affects Vinícius Jr.’s contract talks, especially as the Brazilian pushes for a salary that would make him the club’s highest earner.
