What Barcelona Needs to Win LaLiga After Crushing Real Madrid
After their dramatic Clásico win over Real Madrid, Barcelona needs just one more victory to secure the LaLiga title with three games left.
After a thrilling 4–3 win over Real Madrid at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, FC Barcelona is now just one step away from claiming the 2024–25 LaLiga title. The victory puts Hansi Flick's squad at 82 points, seven ahead of their eternal rivals with only three matches remaining.
A Comeback Full of Character
The match began with Real Madrid in control, thanks to two early goals from Kylian Mbappé. But Barcelona responded with resilience and turned the game around in just 25 minutes. Eric García started the comeback with a header off a corner, followed by a stunning strike from Lamine Yamal from outside the box. Shortly after, Raphinha took advantage of a mistake from Dani Ceballos to score the 3–2, and later added his second after an error by Lucas Vázquez to make it 4–2 before halftime.
In the second half, Mbappé completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute to close the gap, but Barcelona held on for a massive victory that edges them closer to the title.
What Does Barcelona Need to Clinch the Title?
With 82 points after 35 rounds, Barcelona only needs one more win to be crowned champions, regardless of Real Madrid's results. Their next fixture is on Thursday, May 15, against Espanyol in the Catalan derby. A victory in that match would seal their 28th LaLiga title.
If Barcelona fails to win against Espanyol, they’ll still have two more chances: against Getafe and Sevilla in the final rounds. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, with 75 points, must win all three of their remaining matches and hope Barcelona drops points in at least two of theirs.
The Clásico win not only brings Barcelona closer to the trophy, but also boosts their momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. With solid performances and a confident squad, the Catalan giants are on the verge of another LaLiga championship.
