Why Won’t Mbappé Play Against Rayo Vallecano?
Real Madrid faces a crucial LaLiga clash against Rayo Vallecano this weekend, but the absence of Kylian Mbappé has raised concerns among fans. The French forward's unavailability comes at a critical point in the season, leaving the team without one of its key players.
Reason for His Absence
Mbappé sustained a left thigh injury during the UEFA Champions League match against Atalanta, where he was substituted before halftime after showing signs of discomfort. While medical reports confirm the injury is not severe, it is significant enough to rule him out for the upcoming league match.
Carlo Ancelotti addressed the situation in a press conference, emphasizing that the club will not take any risks with Mbappé's health. The coach also hinted at the uncertainty surrounding the forward's availability for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Final on December 18 in Doha.
"We will make a decision based on how he progresses over the next few days," Ancelotti stated.
Impact on the Team
Mbappé's absence adds to Real Madrid’s growing injury list, which includes Éder Militão, Ferland Mendy, and Dani Carvajal. However, the team received a boost with the return of Eduardo Camavinga, who is now fit and available for selection.
Despite the challenges, Real Madrid remains focused on securing a strong finish to the year, aiming to clinch the international title. The uncertainty over Mbappé's participation in the final, which will be against the winner of the Al Ahly vs. Pachuca semifinal, increases the pressure on Ancelotti and his staff. Nonetheless, the club’s priority remains protecting Mbappé's long-term fitness, given his pivotal role in their future plans.
