Will Real Madrid Pay? Vinícius Jr. Aims for Mbappé-Level Salary
Although Vinícius Jr. has stated that there has been no contact from Saudi Arabia, reports continue to suggest there is interest in the Brazilian, making it a potential option if no financial agreement is reached—especially with Kylian Mbappé now in the equation.
Vinícius Jr.'s Contract with Real Madrid
The Brazilian currently earns just over $15 million net per season, with his contract running until June 2027. While it’s a significant salary, Vinícius reportedly aims to narrow the gap with Real Madrid’s newest star, Kylian Mbappé.
Wants Kylian Mbappé's Salary
According to Mundo Deportivo, Vinícius Jr. wants a salary closer to Kylian Mbappé’s earnings. Since joining from Paris Saint-Germain, the Frenchman reportedly earns a base salary of over $15 million, plus a signing bonus for arriving on a free transfer.
Mbappé’s five-year contract includes additional benefits, totaling over $40 million net, which averages around $8 million per season. If both components are added, the French star makes over $23 million net per season.
Will Real Madrid Agree to Pay?
As cited by the Spanish outlet, the decision ultimately rests with Real Madrid and their financial calculations. Offering Vinícius an additional $10 million per season would have significant locker room and economic implications for the club’s future.
If Madrid agrees, the issue would be settled. However, if they don’t, the club must decide whether they are willing to risk losing Vinícius Jr.. With a release clause exceeding $1 billion, it's unlikely any club will pay it—except for a massive offer from Saudi Arabia.
Vinícius Denies Saudi Arabia Offers
Following the Champions League first leg against Manchester City, Vinícius denied receiving any Saudi Arabian offers, expressing his desire to remain with Real Madrid for the long term.
“I don’t know anything about a possible offer,” Vinícius said. “They haven’t spoken to me yet. They need to talk to the president. Hopefully, I can stay here for a long time. This is my home. I want to make history here,” he told Movistar+.
