Xavi: "What I'm most proud of is having trusted in the new generation of Barça"
Coach Xavi Hernández, who managed FC Barcelona from November 2021 to May 2024, expressed his "pride" in having trusted a new generation of players, such as Fermín López, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, and Alejandro Balde, who are now key in Hansi Flick's team. In an interview with France Football, Xavi also highlighted that, beyond the titles, his greatest satisfaction was having bet on these young talents, who represent the future of the club.

Although expectations were high due to his history as a player, Xavi acknowledged that his deep connection with Barcelona sometimes worked against him, as he was "too emotional" in some decisions. He also admitted to making mistakes, such as in the departure of Sergio Busquets, which forced a rethink of the team's playing style.
Despite the ups and downs, Xavi defended his legacy at the club, especially because he led Barcelona through one of its worst times. The coach also recalled that the departure of key figures, such as Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff, affected the team's performance, particularly after a successful first year and a half.
Looking to the future, Xavi confirmed that he wants to return to coaching next season, whether at a LaLiga club or with a national team. He also mentioned that he closely follows coaches like Guardiola, Arteta, and Xabi Alonso, among others, for their focus on ball control and high pressing.
Reflecting on his playing career, Xavi recalled surpassing his childhood dreams, achieving all possible titles, and highlighted unforgettable moments, like the Ballon d'Or podium in 2010 alongside Messi and Iniesta, a reflection of the football legacy of Barcelona from that era.
