10% of Barcelona Members Want Messi Back as a Player
A survey among Barcelona club members shows that some fans still dream of seeing Lionel Messi return to the pitch wearing the famous blaugrana jersey.
The possible return of Lionel Messi to FC Barcelona continues to spark debate among the club’s members. A survey conducted by TV3 revealed that 10% of respondents would like to see the Argentine legend return to the club as an active player.
The poll was part of a broader study focusing on the club’s current situation and its recent internal elections. Within that context, members were also asked what kind of return they would prefer for the iconic forward.
While a portion of the supporters still hopes to see Messi back on the pitch, the most popular option was different. A clear majority—55.5%—favored organizing a tribute match to properly honor the player and celebrate his historic legacy with the club.
Another proposal also received notable support. Around 28% of the surveyed members said they would like Messi to be named honorary president of the club. Meanwhile, only 6% of participants stated that they would prefer Messi not to return to the club in any capacity.
The survey also addressed other institutional topics related to the club. Members rated the management of the new stadium construction with an average score of 6.6 out of 10.
In addition, a large majority—78.4%—supported allowing remote voting in future club elections, a measure that could make it easier for members living outside Barcelona to participate in the process.
Despite the different opinions, one thing remains clear: Messi’s connection with Barcelona continues to be a powerful topic among the club’s supporters.
