Atletico star Griezmann suffers thigh injury in training
LaLiga title contenders Atletico Madrid will be without Antoine Griezmann for their upcoming matches after he suffered a thigh injury.
Atletico Madrid have revealed that Antoine Griezmann has suffered a low-grade muscle injury in his left thigh.
The 34-year-old, who was a substitute in their 1-1 draw with Galatasaray on Wednesday, sustained the injury in training as Atleti prepare to host Mallorca in LaLiga on Sunday.
Griezmann has scored six goals in 20 Spanish top-flight matches this season, while he has directly contributed to three goals in the Champions League this term (one goal, two assists).
The club revealed in a statement that the Frenchman underwent an MRI scan but did not disclose the length of the injury.
The statement read: "Griezmann suffered a low-grade muscle injury in his left thigh, diagnosed by the club's medical services after the MRI performed on our striker.
"The Frenchman suffered the injury during training on Friday. His return to competition will depend on how his injury progresses."
After their league match against Mallorca, Atleti face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League before away trips to Levante in LaLiga and Real Betis in the Copa del Rey.
