Anthony Gordon scored his first Barcelona goal, setting them on their way to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Getafe in LaLiga.
Barcelona 3-0 Getafe: Gordon nets first LaLiga goal as Flick's perfect start goes on
Barcelona continue to set the pace in LaLiga, having won their eighth straight game to start the campaign with another thumping victory.
Barcelona maintained their 100% start to the season, with Gabriel Jesus and Jules Kounde also hitting the back of the net after Gordon's second-minute opener.
Gordon carried his recent form from the international break back to Barcelona and scored with just 78 seconds on the clock. He had to skip through a number of challenges but eventually snuck his low shot under David Soria and into the back of the net.
The Englishman almost turned provider 12 minutes later, cutting inside from the left to bend a lovely cross into the box, but Dani Olmo's glancing touch sent it wide.
Gavi saw a glancing header saved by Soria before Jesus doubled Barcelona's advantage 30 minutes in. Zaid Romero was caught on the ball in his own box, and the Brazilian slotted it into the bottom-left corner.
On the stroke of half-time, Rodri floated a cross into Kounde, who had beaten the offside trap to be completely free on the edge of the six-yard box, but he dawdled over the shot, making things easy for Soria.
Gordon could have had a second shortly after the break, racing onto Lamine Yamal's throughball, but Soria rushed to the edge of his box to smother the chance.
A short corner routine in the 73rd minute caught out Getafe again as Yamal whipped in a right-sided delivery and Kounde ghosted in behind and tucked home his second big chance.
Yamal could not get on the scoresheet himself, though he came close in the closing stages, with his volley curling narrowly wide of the far post.
Gordon makes his mark
Gordon impressed for England with a host of goals during the extended international break, and having failed to hit the net for Barcelona in LaLiga before it, he did not take long to change that.
He is the 10th English player to score in LaLiga in the 21st century, with this being the earliest goal by a player from the nation in the competition in that same time frame.
Indeed, it is the earliest goal scored by any player in the competition this season.
Meanwhile, Jesus, who led the line in Raphinha's absence, has scored three goals in five matches for Barcelona across all competitions, netting with each of his three shots on target.
Barcelona have equalled their best start to a LaLiga season, winning each of their first eight games (also won eight under Gerardo Martino in 2013-14).
They have been a force to be reckoned with so far, netting 34 goals in total across those eight victories, and they have scored at least three goals in all but one of their matches so far, sending out another strong statement of intent.
