Barcelona and Osasuna appeals to reschedule postponed LaLiga fixture rejected
Barcelona and Osasuna will play their rearranged LaLiga match on March 27, with their appeals to push the fixture back rejected.
Barcelona and Osasuna's appeal to postpone their rearranged LaLiga match were rejected, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said on Thursday.
The clubs must play their rescheduled fixture on March 27, the original new date set for the match by the RFEF earlier this week.
The original fixture on March 8 had seen both teams announce their respective line-ups before the match was postponed due to the death of Barcelona's club doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia.
Barca appealed for the rescheduled fixture to be pushed back on the grounds that at least six of their players - including South Americans Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, who have linked up with Brazil and Uruguay respectively - will not have time to rest after international duty.
Raphina, who has 21 goals involvements in LaLiga for Barcelona this season, and Brazil face Argentina on March 25, meaning he would almost certainly not be back in time for the Balugrana.
Araujo, meanwhile, would face Bolivia on the same day and is also unlikely to return for Hansi Flick's side in time.
Osasuna appealed because they had another game two days later against Athletic Bilbao, with the two sides originally set to resume LaLiga action on March 28. The rest of the weekend action is scheduled for March 29.
Although Barcelona and Osasuna proposed other dates, including the end of April or the week commencing May 19, their requests were rejected, with LaLiga pushing Osasuna's game against Athletic back to March 30.
Barca are top of LaLiga with 60 points, level with Real Madrid, who have played a game more.
