Barcelona Complete First Preseason Training Session
Barcelona officially kicked off preparations for the 2026-27 season with its first preseason training session under Hansi Flick. The workout featured several first-team players along with a strong group of academy prospects eager to impress.
Barcelona officially opened preseason with its first training session led by Hansi Flick, who began preparing the squad for the upcoming campaign. The session included all the players who completed their medical examinations the previous day, along with several members of Barça Atlètic and the club's youth academy hoping to earn a place in the first-team plans.
Held at the Joan Gamper Training Ground, the workout marked the beginning of an important stage as the Catalan club starts shaping its roster for the new season. As expected, players who recently competed in the FIFA World Cup were not yet available to join the group.
Flick Blends Experience With Young Talent
Among the first-team players taking part in the opening session were Marc-André ter Stegen, Wojciech Szczesny, Alejandro Balde, Andreas Christensen, Marc Casadó, Gerard Martín, Marc Bernal, Héctor Fort, and Roony Bardghji.

Hansi Flick also invited 16 academy players to participate in training as he begins evaluating the club's next generation of talent. One of the standout names was Brian Fariñas, a key player for Barça Atlètic, whose future remains uncertain amid reported interest from Girona, although negotiations between the clubs have yet to reach an agreement.
The large academy presence highlights the German manager's intention to closely assess the young players before making decisions regarding the final composition of the squad.
Barcelona Adjust Their Schedule to Beat the Heat
The first training session began at 9:30 a.m., earlier than the club's usual schedule in an effort to avoid the hottest part of the day. The preseason workload will increase on Wednesday with two training sessions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, as preparations continue.
With preseason now underway, Barcelona begin a new chapter focused on building momentum for the upcoming campaign. While the club awaits the gradual return of its World Cup participants, Hansi Flick will use these early sessions to evaluate emerging talent, strengthen the team's chemistry, and lay the foundation for a squad aiming to compete for every major trophy this season.
