The numbers from the CIES Football Observatory

Barcelona has increased the value of the signings made in the last five years by 116 million euros, while Real Madrid has raised it by 526, according to the latest report published this Friday by the CIES Football Observatory.

This study, which excludes youth academy players, presents the appreciation or depreciation of the value of players signed in the last five years, and considers the balance between the amounts paid and received for transfers that have already been definitively released, and the amounts paid and the current transfer values of those who still belong to the club.

The case of Real Madrid and Barcelona

In the case of Real Madrid, out of the 526 million revaluation of their signings, 27 come from capital gains of players who have left the club, and the rest are "virtual capital gains," half of which come from Kylian Mbappé (signed as a free agent and whose current value exceeds 160 million) and Arda Güler (signed for 30 and valued at 125).

And in Barcelona, the report shows a loss of 64 million euros in the buying and selling of football players, but an increase of 180 million in the value of the signings that remain at the club.

The 22 Spanish clubs listed in the study achieve positive results, with Villarreal (+387), Betis (+294), Celta de Vigo (+171), Elche (+120), Valencia (+102), Girona (+101), Atlético de Madrid (+100), and Sevilla (+92) standing out among them.

The clubs from other leagues

Among the teams from the other major European leagues, the ones achieving the best results are Eintracht Frankfurt (+527), Paris Saint-Germain (+490), Benfica (+488), and Manchester City (+447).

On the contrary, Saudi clubs are among those that have suffered the greatest depreciation. This is the case for Al-Hilal (-502), Al-Nassr (-229), Al Ittihad (-175), and Al-Ahli (-134).

And among the European clubs that have devalued their signings the most in the last five years, Manchester United (-405), Tottenham (-188), Spartak Moscow (-89), Leicester City (-88), and West Ham (-82) stand out. EFE
