Barcelona will not dwell on Betis draw with quadruple hunt on
Barcelona missed the chance to go six points clear in LaLiga, but they still hold a four-point advantage over Real Madrid.
Barcelona will not dwell on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis, Hansi Flick pledged after the Blaugrana missed the chance to pull six points clear at the top of LaLiga.
Barca had a golden opportunity to double their lead over second-placed Real Madrid after Los Blancos slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Valencia earlier on Saturday.
But they could not grasp it as Betis defender Natan cancelled out Gavi's early opener, bringing an end to Barca’s nine-match winning run in league action.
The draw moved Barca to 67 points, four ahead of Madrid, while Atletico Madrid are third on 57 points and have a game in hand.
"We tried everything to win, but we couldn't do it," Flick told reporters. "We were unlucky in front of goal, but we played a good game.
"On days like today, when you don't manage to score, you have to accept it and see it from a positive perspective.
“I'm left with the fact that we tried everything and dominated the game."
Despite the dropped points, Flick feels his side are still in their groove ahead of the final stretch of the season, with a possible quadruple up for grabs.
Having won the Supercopa de Espana and built a lead at the top of LaLiga, Barca will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals and Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
"We can be proud of what the players have done these last few games," Flick said.
"We are in the Copa final and, despite a draw, we have extended our lead on top. I'm happy, it's a fantastic situation."
