Controversy Keeps Following Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid

  • The French star returned to Madrid after his teammates had already started training at Valdebebas, adding another chapter to a turbulent few days surrounding his recovery.

Mbappé Returns to Madrid, but Not to Valdebebas

Kylian Mbappé is back in the Spanish capital, but questions surrounding his recovery continue to grow. According to El Chiringuito, the forward landed in Madrid on Monday at 11:16 a.m., when his teammates had already been training for almost an hour.

The Real Madrid squad had started its session at Valdebebas at 10:30 a.m., meaning the Frenchman once again missed training with the rest of the team as he continues recovering from his left knee injury.

The club maintains that Mbappé has permission and that everything is part of his recovery plan. The issue is that this latest absence comes after several episodes that have placed virtually every move he makes under the microscope.

A Recovery Surrounded by Controversy

Mbappé suffered the injury on September 25 before undergoing tests at Valdebebas. Real Madrid diagnosed him with a hyperextension of the left knee joint capsule, after which he was allowed to continue part of his recovery away from Spain.

Since then, however, almost every appearance by the forward has sparked discussion. He was first seen at a party in Paris with his girlfriend, before images later emerged of him riding a bicycle, something that also drew criticism from some supporters while he remained sidelined.

Now comes his return to Madrid after training had already begun. Everything has been done with the club’s permission, but it comes at a time when the player and his recovery are under particularly intense scrutiny.

Real Madrid Continues to Back Him

The club’s position has not changed. Mbappé officially remains part of his recovery program and, based on the information provided by Real Madrid, there is no disciplinary issue surrounding his absences.

Following the latest session, Madrid reported that Asencio, Konaté, Mbappé, Mendy, Valverde and Rodrygo continue with their respective recovery programs.

The difference is that players such as Ibrahima Konaté and Federico Valverde have been working at Real Madrid City, while Mbappé spent the past several days outside Spain with permission from both the club and José Mourinho.

Villarreal Remains the Target

With Mbappé now back in Madrid, the next step will be to gradually resume work under Mourinho.

The objective is for him to be available against Villarreal next Saturday. The injury does not appear to be as serious as initially feared, particularly considering it affected a knee that had already caused him problems previously.

But until he returns to the field, the conversation surrounding the Frenchman continues to grow. The party in Paris, the bicycle and now another training session without Mbappé have turned what should have been a quiet recovery into a string of controversies.
