FC Barcelona Officially Announces the Signing of Jesse Bisiwu: Hansi Flick's Young Bet
Barcelona continue reshaping their attack with the signing of Jesse Bisiwu. The 18-year-old Belgian winger has signed through 2031 and arrives as one of Hansi Flick's most exciting long-term projects.
Barcelona Bets on Jesse Bisiwu as It Accelerates Its Attacking Rebuild
FC Barcelona officially confirmed on Friday the signing of Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu, one of the brightest young prospects in European football. The 18-year-old arrives from Club Brugge in a deal that, according to multiple reports, is worth around $9.8 million, while also including a sell-on percentage in favor of the Belgian club.
The youngster has signed a contract with the Blaugrana until June 30, 2031, making him one of the club's most significant long-term investments under Hansi Flick. After completing the signing in Barcelona, Bisiwu will travel to St. George's Park to join the team's preseason training camp and begin adapting alongside his new teammates.
Hansi Flick Continues Reshaping Barcelona's Attack
The signing of Jesse Bisiwu marks another step in Barcelona's attacking rebuild. The club has strengthened its frontline with several additions during this transfer window following major changes to the squad, while continuing to search for players who fit Hansi Flick's football philosophy.
According to ESPN, the Belgian winger is viewed as a player with significant room for development, and there is a possibility that he could split his time between the first team and Barça Atlètic, depending on his progress throughout the season.
Barcelona also remains active in the transfer market in search of a striker to complete its attacking overhaul, meaning the arrival of Bisiwu may not be the club's final signing before the transfer window closes.
Who Is Jesse Bisiwu and Why Did Barcelona Want Him?
Jesse Bisiwu is a natural left winger who is also capable of playing on the right flank. His standout qualities are his pace, quick acceleration and ability to break defensive lines thanks to his excellent dribbling skills.
Developed through the youth ranks at Club Brugge, the attacker spent most of his competitive development with Club NXT, the Belgian club's reserve side that competes in the Challenger Pro League. Despite being regarded as one of the club's top prospects, he never made an official appearance for the senior team.
He was also part of the youth squad that reached the UEFA Youth League final, where he showcased much of his potential before his contract situation affected his role during the final stages of the competition.

A Long-Term Investment That Also Creates Immediate Expectations
The signing of Jesse Bisiwu reflects a philosophy that Barcelona has reinforced in recent transfer windows: investing in young players before they fully establish themselves at the highest level.
Barcelona supporters will be closely watching his first training sessions under Hansi Flick, especially as the club continues its attacking rebuild, creating opportunities for the next generation of talent.
