Julián Álvarez Opens Door to Transfer Amid Arsenal Interest
Julián Álvarez hinted that a transfer could be possible despite his happiness at Atlético Madrid, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona showing interest.
Julián Álvarez has made it clear that he does not yet know where he will play next season, amid speculation linking him to Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona. The Argentine striker starred in Atlético Madrid’s recent 5-2 Champions League victory over Tottenham Hotspur, scoring a brace that helped Diego Simeone’s side secure a strong advantage in the Round of 16.
Since joining Atlético in 2024 from Manchester City, "La Araña" has scored 45 goals in 98 appearances, establishing himself as one of the club’s key figures. His performances have attracted interest from rival teams, with Barcelona targeting him as a top option to replace Robert Lewandowski. Arsenal and Chelsea have also expressed interest in bringing the 26-year-old forward back to the Premier League.
After the win over Spurs, Álvarez commented: "I don’t know. Maybe yes, maybe no. I have nothing more to say other than that I’m happy. Social media talks a lot, but it’s nothing. We’re very happy competing in all tournaments, so everything is going very well."
Atlético coach Diego Simeone also addressed the striker’s future: "I see Julián Álvarez very happy to be here. Hopefully, he can stay. If we look at the teams he’s played for, Atleti is where he has scored the most goals." While Álvarez insists he is happy in Madrid, his words leave the door open for a possible transfer, keeping fans and interested clubs watching closely ahead of the next transfer window.
