Operation Lamine: Barcelona’s Plan to Free Their Young Star From Pubalgia Before the Chelsea
Barcelona has activated a special recovery plan to protect Lamine Yamal, whose pubalgia now threatens his momentum at a crucial point in the season.
A Recovery Plan Designed to Stop the Pain
FC Barcelona has put a specific medical plan in motion to help Lamine Yamal overcome the pubalgia that forced him to step away from the pitch in recent days. The issue, while not serious, has been persistent enough to sideline him from Spain’s World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey.
After undergoing an invasive radiofrequency treatment on November 10, the 18-year-old rested for 48 to 72 hours before beginning a tailored recovery program with two club physiotherapists. The goal is clear: have him back competing within 7 to 10 days. On Wednesday, he even completed part of the session with the squad under Hansi Flick at the Ciutat Esportiva.
A Possible Test in Bilbao, Eyes Set on Chelsea
Inside the club, there is cautious optimism that Lamine could get minutes against Athletic Club, mainly as a test ahead of his true objective: arriving fully fit for the showdown with Chelsea. The winger is eager to return to the Spotify Camp Nou, but Barça will not take risks if his progress stalls.
His recovery is being monitored by Belgian specialist Dr. Ernest Schilders, who previously evaluated the player and will return to Barcelona soon to work with Dr. Ricard Pruna in the next phase of the process.
Pain, Concern and a Clear Goal: Avoid Surgery
Sources close to the player admit that Lamine was in significant pain, enough to worry him about the severity of the problem. Surgery was never an option — neither the club nor his inner circle wanted that route. Barça anticipated the need for outside expertise and brought in Schilders to supervise.
Discipline, Awareness and Reduced Exposure
Doctors have warned Lamine that pubalgia can linger for months if not managed properly. The youngster has taken that message seriously, cutting down on public exposure and social content, and closing the chapter on his relationship with singer Nicki Nicole, a decision aimed at protecting his focus.
Elite Care and an Ambition That Never Dims
Despite the pain he had been dragging since September, Lamine Yamal showed flashes of brilliance before this setback, delivering decisive performances in LaLiga and Champions League. Now, with a recovery space installed in his new home and a disciplined mindset, Barcelona believes the winger is ready to begin the final stretch of the Operation Lamine plan — one that could reignite his season.
