Spanish Government Asks the Prosecutor's Office to Investigate Lamine Yamal's Party
What was supposed to be a dream day for the Barcelona star has turned into a nightmare—and instead of remembering it fondly, Lamine Yamal now finds himself in serious trouble over his controversial 18th birthday party.
What should have been a day of celebration and joy has become a true nightmare for Lamine Yamal, who made headlines everywhere after his ultra-private 18th birthday party. The young star recently posted a short clip from the event on social media that quickly went viral—but now, the spotlight is on something else entirely.
Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights has formally requested the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Ombudsman, and the Office Against Hate Crimes to investigate whether his birthday party violated the General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, following a formal complaint by the ADEE association.
Possible legal violation and ongoing legislative reform
Jesús Martín, General Director for Disability Rights, stated that using people with dwarfism as entertainment “objectifies” them and “recalls medieval times.” If it's proven that the event included “mockery, ridicule, or derision,” those responsible could face fines between €600,000 and €1,000,000, aligned with the legislative reform currently promoted by the Spanish government.
Public responsibility and the impact on youth
Martín warned of a potential "rebound effect" on teenagers: “We’re concerned that people with influence might believe they’re above the law.” He emphasized that public figures like Yamal should instead serve as allies in building a culture of respect.
ADEE announces legal action
The ADEE association has already confirmed it will pursue legal and social actions, demanding accountability and warning that “they will not remain silent.” The group defends that dignity is not entertainment.
