Club América Goes All in for Di María!
Club América has reportedly started talks to sign Ángel Di María as a free agent
With the growth of MLS since Leo Messi's arrival, Liga MX has nothing to envy and is in full expansion. While Pachuca managed to reach the final of the Intercontinental Cup against Real Madrid, several big stars have landed in the competition in recent weeks. Club León signed James Rodríguez, Rayados de Monterrey signed Sergio Ramos, and now, Club América is going all in for Ángel Di María.

Club América is already negotiating with Di María
A few years ago, everyone expected Di María to leave Europe once the 2022 World Cup with Argentina was over. However, he couldn’t and didn’t want to miss the opportunity to offer one last dance where it all started, and he couldn’t refuse the offer to return to Benfica. However, various media outlets in Portugal have been reporting that they won’t offer him a renewal, and since January 1st, Di María has been free to sign a new contract for the next season.
In recent years, there has been a lot of speculation about where his next destination outside of Europe could be, with three clear options on the table: return to Argentina, go to Saudi Arabia, or join MLS. However, Club América has reportedly been working on this operation for weeks without making noise, and according to ‘A Bola’ in Portugal, the negotiations seem to be quite advanced to bring Di María to Liga MX.
This would be Di María's salary at Club América
Obviously, there were doubts about whether Liga MX could compete financially with the offers Di María might have received from Saudi Arabia or the United States. But, according to reports from Mexico, salary will not be an issue. In fact, it has been revealed that he has an offer of three million dollars on the table, which would make him one of the highest-paid players in Liga MX.
In any case, Club América is willing to match this salary figure to try to convince Di María, thanks to the new sponsorship deal they signed with Adidas, the sportswear brand that also outfits the Argentine player and would cover part of his salary. So far, there has been no official confirmation on the matter, nor is one expected in the coming weeks. However, the conversations to bring Club América to sign Di María are ongoing.
